The Indiana Fever silenced the Minnesota Lynx in Game 3 of the WNBA Finals. Shavonte Zellous scored a career-high 30 points to help the Fever beat the Lynx 76-59 on Friday night. Tamika Catchings added 17 points and Erlana Larkins had 10 points and 15 rebounds in the Fever’s victory.
The Lynx couldn’t combat the Fever’s run, and the sellout crowd of over 18,000 in Indiana was a great sixth man for the team. A 70-33 score with 1:58 remaining in the third quarter was the largest lead by a team in WNBA Finals history. This WNBA Finals is about who wants it more and Tamika Catchings and the Fever seem more determined to win a championship. The Fever have lost two of their best shooters, Katie Douglas and Jeanette Pohlen, to season-ending injuries and still find a way to win.
Indiana has been difficult to scout since Douglas’ injury in the Eastern Conference finals and that is their biggest X- factor. Every game a different player rises to the occasion to assist Catchings in winning an elusive WNBA championship.
With a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever have an opportunity to win their first WNBA championship at home on Sunday against the defending champs.
